Air Transport Union, Beirut Port employees stage sit-in against dire living conditions

NNA - The Air Transport Union at Rafic Hariri International Airport on Wednesday staged a sit-in in front of the airport’s entrance, with the participation of GLC chief Bechara Asmar.

Protesters censured the possibility of lifting subsidies on essential commodities.

“Today's protests are a warning message to officials,” Asmar said, adding that officials must form a government that’s capable of dealing with the dire economic situation.

Meanwhile, Beirut Port employees staged a similar sit-in and pressed officials for swift solutions to the country’s unbearable living conditions; they warned against further escalations if their demands are not met as expected.

The Port employees also refrained from working for one full hour.
