Khalil, Duquesne talk CEDRE conference

NNA - Minister of Finance, Ali Hassan Khalil, received Tuesday French inter-ministerial delegate for the Mediterranean, Pierre Duquesne, tasked with following up on CEDRE conference.

Following the meeting, the French diplomat indicated that he discussed with his host the 2019 and 2020 state budgets, highlighting the necessity to respect deadlines in that respect.

'We discussed the 2020 budget which must be approved within the constitutional deadlines and not in 2020,' he said.

'It is important to show that decisions are being made; this reassures the international community, the Lebanese citizens and the markets,' he added.

In response to a question, Duquesne maintained that the projects approved at CEDRE conference were still standing, and that Lebanon needed to implement the necessary reforms.

Separately, Khalil met with a delegation of the International Finance Corporation, with talks touching on Beirut airport affairs.
