Chidiac from Rome deems International Arab Banking Summit highly important

NNA - State Minister for Administrative Development Affairs Dr. May Chidiac, on Tuesday stressed the importance of the International Arab Banking Summit, pointing out that the Union of Arab Banks plays a key role in achieving stability.

Minister Chidiac's words came on the sidelines of the International Arab Banking Summit (IABS) 2019 which kicked off Tuesday in the Italian capital, Rome, attended by prominent Arab and Italian figures, including governors of Arab central banks, representatives of the World Bank and the IMF, the Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit and chief banking and financial figures.

Chidiac branded IABS as 'the Summit of rapprochement between the shores of the Mediterranean, North Africa and Europe thus between Europe and the Arab world.'

Chidiac also hailed the honoring of the Head of the Lebanese Banks Association Joseph Torbey, during the Summit, in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of the Arab banks' work.

Chidiac also indicated that the Arab Banking Summit highlighted the need for a joint work between the private and public sectors for a better future and better stability in a region enduring several crises.
