Jreissati launches beach cleanup campaign along Lebanon's coast: A national environmental celebration

NNA - The coastal clean-up campaign kicked off Sunday morning, officially commencing from Tyre in southern Lebanon with the participation of Environment Minister Fadi Jreissati, MP Inaya Ezzeddine, and a number of volunteers from across the country.

Minister Jreissati hailed this initiative launched by the Ministry of Environment, hoping that the Lebanese coast will be turned into a nature reserve by putting an end to pollution.

“The event today is a national celebration from the far south to the far north and holds a great national symbolic meaning when we all participate in this day together,” he said.

“We launch this campaign from this beach, classified by the National Geographic as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Middle East,” added Jreissati, noting that “this is a gift from the sons of Tyre to all the Lebanese, and the biggest winner is Lebanon. It will attract tourists and people from all over the world to Tyre’s Beach and other Lebanese beaches, and thus would be a great gain for Lebanon and its people.'

“I hope that our entire beach will be protected and defended,” Jreissati underscored.

'Today is a cry from the people to say enough to pollution and dumping of waste. We should thank God for giving us this beach gift, a blessing and a great national natural wealth that must be preserved and protected,” he corroborated.
