Salameh: Banking sector safe and resilient

NNA - Governor of the Lebanese Central Bank, Riyad Salameh, on Tuesday maintained that the banking sector in Lebanon was safe and sound, and that it is still resilient despite the country's need of new capital flows.

'The Central Bank confirms the safety and resilience of the banking sector in Lebanon,' Salameh said during the inauguration of The Business and Financial Forum, titled 'Lebanon at the Heart of International conferences.'

'Rating agencies have recently issued reports which indicate that the view to Lebanon's banking sector is stable,' he indicated.

'The Lebanese pound remains the pillar of trust in our economy, and in our financial sector and stability,' he said.

'The Central Bank is committed to its policy aiming to preserve the stability of the exchange rate for US Dollars to Lebanese Pounds,' he added, stressing that Bank is capable of achieving this goal.
