Israel constructs 11km wall on border with Lebanon

The Israeli army announced that so far it has built an 11 kilometre long, nine metre tall concrete wall along its northern border with Lebanon.

Lebanon has raised concerns that the wall is trespassing on its territory, a claim Israel has denied.

Israel said it is building the wall to protect its citizens who live in neighbouring villages.

Stressed the importance of the massive wall an Israeli military official said Tel Aviv is closely monitoring Hezbollah, noting “we are prepared for the possibility that they will surprise us.”

Senior army officials have previously warned the Lebanese movement that “any of its forces who infiltrate into Israeli territory will not come back alive.”

The wall built so far is made up of concrete, steel and barbed wire with sensors, cameras, information collection centres and warning systems.

To date, the joint Israeli Army-Defence Ministry Borders and Security Fence Directorate has been cleared and received funding to build 13 kilometres of concrete wall along the approximately 130 kilometre border.
