Berri joins Aoun's lunch banquet, says sees eyetoeye with President over Parliament's work

Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday described his visit to President Michel Aoun as 'more than excellent.'

'The meeting mainly focused on all the future issues, especially the work of the House of Parliament, and the projects that must be swiftly accomplished,' Berri said in the wake of his meeting with the President at Baabda Palace.

However, Berri stressed that talks with Aoun did not touch on any potential names for the new presidency of the House of Parliament, or on details pertaining to the new cabinet formation.

'We've discussed all these topics, and I can say is that the President and I see eye-to-eye on most of the matters,' Berri added.

Asked whether he separated between his relationship with the President of the Republic and Minister Gebran Bassil, Berri said, 'I establish relations with all the segments of society, and Gebran Bassil is one of these segments.'

In response to another question on whether he has discussed the Ministry of Finance portfolio with Aoun, he said, 'We did not discuss the details of the government, the ministries, and the names of ministers.'

After the meeting, Berri joined the President's lunch banquet to continue talks over the country's most pressing issues.
