Most Syrian Refugees in Lebanon Want to Go Back Home

Head of the International Red Cross (ICRC) in Lebanon, Christophe Martin, stated today that 80 percent of the refugees in Lebanon want to return to Syria.

Martin made the remarks during a meeting with the Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, according to a statement by the presidential media office.

The conversation between both leaders dealt with the needs of the Red Cross to guarantee a safe and dignified return.

According to Martin, 80 percent of Syrian refugees in Lebanon expressed their desire to return to their country once the security situation improves.

The head of the humanitarian organization stated that around 60,000 Syrians returned, equivalent to one percent of the census conducted by the UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR).
