First Lebanese Super Tucanos arrive

Oct 11

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) announced the delivery of its first two Embraer EMB 313/A-29 Super Tucano light-attack and reconnaissance aircraft on 9 October, saying the aircraft had landed at Hamat Air Base north of Beirut. Another four are scheduled to arrive before the end of 2018.

It was announced in June 2015 that the US State Department had approved the sale of the six Super Tucanos to Lebanon for an estimated cost USD462 million. The proposed package included two spare engines, MX-15 electro-optical sensor systems, 2,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) laser-guidance kits for 70 mm rockets, eight AN/AAR-60(V)2 missile launch detection systems, and eight ALE-47 countermeasures dispensing systems to protect against ground-based air-defence systems, navigations systems, and support equipment and services.
